Margie has always been one to volunteer, especially when a need exists. Springfield’s high school construction project offers such an opportunity. Margie believes that her experiences as a CPA and assistance with financial regulatory filings for construction reimbursement (albeit not school buildings) lends itself to help with project presentations and filings.

Margie is committed to maintaining the best educational value for all Springfield and Morton students, as well as informing the community about upcoming School District plans and previous decisions. This process insures everyone understands how we are investing in the future for our students. This is why Margie decided to run for the school board following the previous school director’s resignation. She was honored to win the November election, was sworn in December 14, 2017, and currently serves on the Finance and Policy committees.

Margie is a CPA, having worked in both public accounting and private industry for over 30 years. Her work experience primarily has focused on financial statement audits, reviews and compilations, budgets and the taxation of individual, partnerships, for profit and non-profit corporations. Margie is committed to staying “current” by completing continuing education credits, and she heads the Education Committee of the Tri-County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Tax & Accounting Professionals (PSTAP).

In 1980 she earned her BS Accounting degree from St. Joseph’s University, and began her accounting career as an auditor in a “Big 8” [now a “Big 4”] accounting firm. While working full time, she earned an MBA in Finance from Drexel University in 1989.

Margie has been a resident of Springfield for over 30 years when she and her husband, Mark, moved into the home in which they still live in the Scenic Hills section of Springfield. They have three children, Mike, Kate and Bill. Mike and Kate attended Scenic Hills Elementary school and then transferred to Holy Cross to complete elementary school. Bill attended Holy Cross from kindergarten through 8th grade. For high school, Mike chose Monsignor Bonner, Kate went to the Academy of Notre Dame, and Bill went to Devon Prep.

In her spare time, Margie enjoys volunteering for church activities, including being Treasurer of St. Vincent DePaul Society Conference of Holy Cross Church. Any time left, Margie and her husband visit the Pacific Northwest where their daughter Kate is serving in the US Navy. You might also find Margie at the Springfield Diner enjoying a fine meal with family and friends.
