Born and raised in Springfield, Kevin Keenan is eager to give back to the school district that has afforded him many great opportunities. Mr. Keenan is entering his ninth year on the school board and hopes to leave a positive impact on the community like his family has over the years.
A member of the Springfield High School (SHS) graduating class of 1995, Mr. Keenan observed his family’s volunteer efforts throughout his childhood. His father coached football for over 30 years, earning him a spot on the Volunteer Memorial Wall in Springfield. His mother was also honored on the Volunteer Memorial Wall for her countless hours in numerous organizations. Now, Mr. Keenan, his wife, a member of the SHS class of 1994, and his two children are following the same path of coaching and volunteering.
Mr. Keenan received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 2000 from Penn State University. He continued his education at Penn State when he obtained a M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance in 2010.
Before settling down in his professional life, Mr. Keenan was fortunate enough to play professional lacrosse. Though he understands that the Springfield community is known and respected for producing great athletes, Mr. Keenan values the importance of producing great people off the field. He teaches students the importance of being mindful of their past and present. The message he imparts to the students is that they are the next link in the chain and that the chain needs every link to be strong. The students need to live up to the people who came before them and be positive people on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
When he isn’t busy coaching sports, Mr. Keenan can be found enjoying Thunderbird wings while watching his hometown Philadelphia Eagles play. While he enjoys all sports, people may not know that Mr. Keenan also loves to play and study chess.
Mr. Keenan is currently the Vice President of Project Development for Ecosave. As a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), he works with teams that perform large retrofits to generate energy savings, including lighting, boilers, control systems, envelopes, and a host of other technologies.
Mr. Keenan, a member of the Facilities and Finance committees, is pleased to represent the community that helped shape him. He fondly remembers meeting many influential community members throughout his journey. Running for the School Board of Directors was a natural path to give back to the town and district he is so proud of.
