SHS School Paper Wins National Award

In the day and age of digital media, the Spri-Hian continues to make an impact in the hallways of the Springfield High School. The Spri-Hian, the school paper of SHS, earned a national award in early May for its excellence—one of only two high schools in Pennsylvania to earn this honor.

The newspaper competed against over hundreds of high school and collegiate newspapers to earn this honor, which is judged on page design, story layout, graphics, headlining, cover design and photography. The ASPA judge described the Spri-Hian as an "estimable newspaper" and the student journalists should be proud of their work.

The staff consists of Editor-in-Chief Krysten Brown, Copy Editor Alyce McHugh, Managing Editors James Surplus and Amal Srour, Assistant Editors Grace Dougherty and Alexa Mihaita,
