Congratulations to Alexa Abbonizio on becoming the girls' basketball all-time leading scorer. Abbonizio broke the previous record, held by Jordan D'Ambrosio, with a three-pointer, and ended the game with a total of 1, 247 points. Ambrosio broke the record in 1991 with a career total of 1,194.

Abbonizio started on Varsity her freshman year at Springfield High School. By the end of her freshman year, she was tied in the county for three-pointers. Abbonizio has also had the opportunity to play all over the country for the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union), which she has been a part of since fourth grade.

Abbonizio comes from a family of athletes, as her older brother and sister played basketball for Penn State Brandywine. Her parents say, "Athletics are in her blood. When she was little, she always had a baseball or a basketball in her hand." Spending so much time watching her siblings play, it's no wonder she has grown up to be such a terrific player and teammate.

Congratulations to the entire team for continuing your undefeated season.
