Springfield School District is no longer accepting paper applications ("The Standard Employment Application for Teaching") for professional employment. Springfield's application process is now online, and we invite you to apply electronically via our Online Application.

Follow the simple instructions to complete your application. Note that you will need your user name and password whenever you log on to complete, polish or update your application file.

If your application is under consideration for a vacancy in your area of certification, you will be contacted by Springfield School District. When appearing for an interview, please bring with you the following materials:

  1. Letter of interest with resume
  2. Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate
  3. Transcript of record as undergraduate/graduate student
  4. A list of three reference contacts who have first-hand knowledge of your work in education
  5. Current Act 34 PA Criminal Record Check (FBI clearance if non-PA resident)
  6. Current Act 151 PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  7. Arrest & Conviction Report (linked below)
  8. Certificate of Residency (linked below)
  9. Other materials that you feel would be helpful in evaluation your candidacy

Background Checks, Clearances and Disclosures

ACT 114

Act 114 of 2006 specifies that all applicants for employment in public and private schools, including employees and independent contractors, undergo background checks. Since April 1, 2007, the following three background checks are required:

Criminal Background Clearance
Child Abuse Clearance
FBI Fingerprints

  • FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (FBI) FINGERPRINT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants must register for fingerprints online. Cost $22.60*  (select Digital Fingerprints)

ACT 168

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett signed into law further background check requirements for all individuals applying for school positions in Pennsylvania. The law became effective on December 31, 2014. Under the new law, we are required to ask you and your previous employers to provide full and complete responses to the questions posed on the Act 168 Disclosure Release Form. Employment is contingent on the completion of this form.

Please complete the first page of each form required for your current employer as well as any previous employment that involved working with children. Please provide appropriate employer contact information: contact name, email address and/or fax number. This document also requires your signature at the top of page three.
