The meeting was called to order at 7:10PM by Jennifer Bingaman.

Public Comment

There were no public comments.

President’s Report

Jennifer Bingaman gave the President’s Report as below.

Coordinator Openings

There are some coordinator openings for the following events; 5^th grade events, 4^th grade sleepover, Jump Rope for Heart, Publicity, and Frostival.

Jennifer asked if the attendees would be interested in a volunteer coffee at SLC in the Fall; attendees said yes.

Restructuring Update

The new bylaws for the Home and School Association for the 3 elementary schools will be posted on the website for public comment.  Fundraising for Scenic Hills in the Fall will not be Cherrydale.  More details to follow.

SLC Community Open House

The Open House is June 5 from 10AM-3PM.  There will be guided tours.

Volunteer Breakfast

May 27 at 9:30AM in the cafeteria.

Bruce, the custodian, is retiring and was presented a gift card on behalf of the Scenic Hills Families to thank him for his service.

Treasurer’s Report

Holly DiGregorio reported a working balance of $26,0878.64.  She reviewed the proposed budget for next year.  Each elementary school will have its own budget.  The budget for Scenic Hills Home and School Association next year was unanimously approved.

Coordinators’ Reports

District Calendar:  Artwork needed provided by the 4th graders by today.  Six students’ artwork will be picked from each school.  Sale of the calendar will be in September 2010. 

Science Days:  Pictures of the Excited About Science program can be viewed at Maleita.photoshop.com

Field Day:  June 11, 2010 with a rain date of June 14, 2010. 

Scenic Showcase:  June 3^rd; Mrs. Kobylarz still needs help.

Ecology:  $573.60 was earned from clothing drive.  The children had a lot of fun. 

Teachers’ Report:

Teachers thanked the Home and School Association for the end-of-the-year gift cards. 

Principal’s Report:

There are 1274 children in elementary schools in the district; 651 at scenic. 1618 kids are enrolled for the 2010-2011 school year.  There will be 275 kids for kindergarten; 47 new in 1^st grade; 30 new children in 9^th grade.  Student enrollment is up 3.8% across the district.

At the SLC, MELC will be in the 8^th grade hallway and the teacher’s lounge.

June 2 is 4^th grade Choir Concert.

Art and Science celebration is June 14, 2010.

The Kindergarten assembly is on June 15^th.

Planning for the elementary school transition is on-going. 

Orientation for the new parents to the school district is in August.

Specific questions regarding the SLC may be directed to Wendy Yohn, Principal of the SLC.
