As far as we know, we are the ONLY school in the country to offer a Skype fair! It’s a wonderful way for students to connect with colleges that are too far away or selective to visit in person. Come to Audion A at 2:35 on the 15th and counselors will help you decide which sessions to attend. There is no pre-registration necessary. Students can attend just one session or up to three. Free pizza and drinks afterwards! West Virginia University, University College in London (the NYU of the U.K.), Elon University, and University of Tampa are among the schools who will Skype with us this year. Students are not expected to be interested in any of the specific attending colleges; if they have considered one of the schools it’s just an added bonus. The idea is to expose students to college “lingo” and the different types of options available. Questions? Ask Ms. Campbell!! STUDENT ACCESS - HAC PARENT ACCESS - HAC Any issues loggin onto HAC (Gradebook)? Parents may address issues by clicking on the “parent portal” link from the High School - http://www.ssdcougars.org/Resources.cfm?subpage=35673&adminActivate=1 -main page and following the directions they find there. They can also view an electronic copy of the letter that was sent out to them earlier this year. Parents may also address any technical issues that they have by sending an e-mail to parentportal@ssdcougars.org. Please be advised that parents/guardians have the availability to change the following information in eSchool by logging into HAC… -
Telephone Number -
E-mail Addresses As far as home address changes, parents/guardians must still do that through the District Office. COLLEGE VISITS/NAVIANCE Juniors and seniors are invited to meet with college representatives visiting the high school. To register for a visit, log onto Naviance, click on the “Colleges” tab, select “view all upcoming college visits,” and “sign up.” Students must register at least 3 school days in advance in order to receive a pass. A teacher’s signature is required for admission to the visit, and teachers have the right to deny a student permission to attend if the student is behind on work or cannot miss a class activity. SENIOR EXAM EXEMPTIONS - Final exam exemptions will be granted to those seniors who have earned a 94% or higher average in all marking periods with 2 exceptions:
- Seniors with Proficient or Advanced on the 11th Grade PSSA in Reading and Math will be exempt from their Final Exams if they have an 84% or higher average for all marking periods.
- For AP students, regardless of grade level, students must sit for the AP Exam to be exempt from final exams. If a student does not sit for an AP Exam, they are required to take the final exam regardless of academic performance.
- As always, if your class is a full-year (4 quarters) class, students must take the Mid-Term Exam, regardless of academic performance
STUDENT E-MAIL -
Student e-mail is up and running, this year every student will have an e-mail address that you can use to contact them and that can also be used for such services as Turn It In. -
This should be the main contact between students and teachers (as opposed to students' personal e-mail addresses). With the goal of preparing them for a college and workplace e-mail account - and learning the difference between personal and "business" communications, Mr. McKnight and the SHS Faculty are going to be expecting the students to consistently check these accounts. -
The student e-mail address will be username@ssdstudent.org (the username consists only of letters does not have punctuation like hyphens or apostrophes) -
Additional information, and the link for students to access the e-mail, can be located at the following address. http://www.ssdcougars.org/webpages/rnelson/email.cfm GRADUATION PROJECT:
