As always, if you have a question or concern, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher.

All homeroom teachers will email parents that morning with directions for specific assignments and their Virtual Office Hours.

Recess
Recess is an important time of the day. We do our best to get our students outside everyday for play and socialization. We use the chart below to help make decisions about recess on days when necessary. Please be sure your child is dressed for the weather.
Attendance
Attendance: To report a student's absence,
Telephone the attendance hotline (610-938-6610), OR
Email scenic.attendance@ssdcougars.org each morning of your child’s absence, OR
Use the link on the Scenic website to submit attendance. (Go to the Scenic page, click on Parents in the upper right-hand corner; select Attendance from the dropdown list, and in the middle of the page you will find a link to submit an email to scenic.attendance@ssdcougars.org
NOTE: School district policy and PA law require a written note or email to excuse an absence within three days of the absence. If you call the attendance hotline, please send in a note on your child's return to school. If you email Scenic Attendance, it is not necessary to send in another note.
Absences becomes Unexcused (UA) if a note is not received within 3 days of the absence. If your child has three Unexcused Absences (UA), you will receive a letter regarding the absences. Unresolved unexcused absences may result in attendance improvement conferences or truancy proceedings.
Please Note:
We encourage families to plan vacations on non-school days. Absence for vacation must be requested and approved in advance, or it is coded as unexcused. Forms are available in the main office, online, or from your child’s teacher. Excused absences for vacation may not exceed 5 days.
Please check your child's attendance in HAC. Any questions, please call Ms. Scelfo or Mrs. Speakes.
If your child is marked absent, you will receive an automated call to confirm Excused Absences, or a personal phone call from our attendance secretary for Unexcused Absences. This confirms the absence and serves as a reminder to send in a written absence note if you have not already done so.
Reminder From the Elementary Student Handbook about birthdays and invitations...
We recognize the importance of celebrating student birthdays, and we love to honor our birthday children by announcing their names on the morning announcements. Our teachers take great pride in making their students feel important on their birthdays as well. If you would like to send in something special to mark your child’s birthday, please send an item for the classroom such as a favorite book (signed and dated by your child) or other trinkets such as pencils, erasers, stickers, and the like. Due to the growing number of allergies and health concerns for our students, we ask that you please do not send in food treats for your child’s birthday.
Invitations for parties or other private events may not be distributed in classrooms, on school buses, or on school property. Your cooperation in this matter is critical to create a supportive atmosphere for each child and not one in which the feelings of any child are placed in jeopardy.
