Six students from Sabold Elementary School received recognition from the Delaware County Reading Council and the Delaware County Intermediate Unit for their entries in the 2017 Dr. Nicholas Spennato Young Authors' Project.
Every school (private and parochial; grades 1-8) in Delaware County was invited to participate in the Young Authors' Contest. Schools submit writing pieces that students have completed throughout the year, and can submit up to eight entries per grade level. Twelve winners were selected for each grade level among the entire county. Sabold had six of those winners, which was more than any other school in the county.
"The recognition of these students is well-deserved," said Peter Brigg, principal of Sabold Elementary. "Their dedication to be successful writers and improve their craft is demonstrated by their unique and advanced writing pieces submitted for this contest. I could not be prouder of their efforts, their accomplishments, and who they are as students."
Sabold's winners are (from left to right in the accompanying photo): Allison Llewellyn (Grade 4), Fatima Sheikh (Grade 2), Emily Cao (Grade 5), Halima Sheikh (Grade 5), Amanda Wu (Grade 4), Cate Convery (Grade 2).
